Welcome to Washington Park
Sitting atop the Hudson Palisades, Washington Park spans roughly 30 acres along the boundary between Union City and the Jersey City Heights. Designed by landscape architects Charles N. Lowrie and Daniel W. Langton at the turn of the 20th century, it has been a daily gathering place ever since.
Tennis
Public hard courts plus an active community ladder and adult group lessons with Baseline Tennis.
Basketball
Full courts that draw pickup games and youth leagues from both sides of the park year-round.
Ball Field
A multi-use ball field hosts community softball, baseball, and informal soccer matches.
Playground
Renovated play structures and a sprayground keep families coming back through the summer.
Walking Paths
Tree-lined paths trace the perimeter — perfect for a stroll, a coffee walk, or a quick run with city views.
Memorials
The park is home to the America Triumphant WWI memorial by sculptor James Novelli.
History

Getting Here
Washington Park runs along Palisade Avenue between roughly 14th and 18th Streets, on the Union City / Jersey City Heights line. The 9th Street – Congress Street Hudson–Bergen Light Rail station is a short walk away.
